Residential Burglary Prevention Tips:
- Install good quality deadbolt locks on all doors leading to the outside and keep them locked at all times.
- Ensure lighting is in place outside every door to illuminate them during all hours of darkness.
- Maintain landscaping shrubs at a height no higher than 36 inches from the ground and tree canopies no lower than 7 feet from the ground.
- Use defensive landscaping (thorny plants or plants with needles) as barriers to vulnerable access points (i.e. windows and fence lines).
- Know your neighbors, so they know what is normal at your residence.
- Install an alarm system and use it faithfully.
- Consider an intercom system.
- Telephone in ALL SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY IMMEDIATELY!
Automotive Crime Prevention Tips:
- Ensure vehicle is locked at all times (even when in the garage).
- Close and lock your garage door.
- Ensure windows are completely rolled up.
- Remove EVERYTHING from vehicle when you leave:
- Keys
- Wallets
- Purses
- Bags
- Jewelry
- Laptops
- Cell Phones
- Money
- CDs
- GPS units
- Stereo Faceplates
- Documents with Personal Information
- MP3 players
- Park in well lit areas.
- Install an alarm system and use it faithfully.
- Telephone in ALL SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY IMMEDIATELY!
