Snow Removal on City Sidewalks

Last updated on 08/24/2010 at 08:58.

(Paraphrased from the City of Frederick Newsletter)

It is that time of year when we need to remind citizens of the requirement to remove snow and ice from sidewalks within 12 hours after the snow stops falling. The sidewalk must be cleaned of snow and ice for a width of four feet or the width of the sidewalk, whichever is less.

If the property owner and/or occupant fail to comply with a Notice of Violation with 24 hours after the property is posted, the Department of Code Enforcement may issue a citation for a municipal infraction in the amount of <b>$100</b>.

If you have a concern that a property owner has left snow or ice on the sidewalk this winter, please feel free to call the Code Enforcement office at 301.600.3825.
